Childbirth Education
Understanding Childbirth
Birth is powerful, and understanding it changes everything. In my classes, we gently unravel common fears by exploring how the body works during labor and what pain truly represents. Through education and reflection, I help you build confidence, strengthen self-advocacy skills, and clarify your birth preferences.
Whether you’re planning a home birth, hospital birth, or anything in between, my intention is that you feel informed, supported, and deeply connected to your experience.
What we will cover in this course
Throughout our time together, you’ll gain a clear understanding of how birth works physiologically, from the anatomy of pregnancy and the mechanics of contractions to the powerful hormonal blueprint that drives labor.
We explore how your body changes during pregnancy, not only physically but also emotionally and mentally, and how to support yourself through common discomforts while preparing for the transition into parenthood.
You’ll learn practical tools for labor: movement and positioning to create space in the pelvis, comfort measures for different stages of labor, and ways your partner can play an active, grounded role. We discuss how birth unfolds in different settings — hospital (with and without epidural), birth center, and home — so you can understand your options without fear or bias.
Because birth doesn’t always follow a script, we also prepare for the unexpected. You’ll learn how to communicate effectively with your care team, navigate common interventions, and stay emotionally centered even if plans shift.
Finally, we cover the immediate postpartum period — what happens in those first hours, days, weeks after birth, how recovery begins, and what newborn care typically looks like — so you feel steady stepping into those first moments with your baby.
This class is not about predicting your birth. It’s about helping you understand it, participate in it, and move through it with confidence.
