The Mom Behind Yoni Bandha

Bonjour chers parents!
I’m Amélie, a proud French mama living in the United States, devoted to supporting women and families through the life-changing journey of pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My passion for the mind–body connection is at the heart of everything I do.
My story began in 2018, when I moved to the U.S., newly married and excited to start a family. Motherhood arrived quickly, and while I longed for pregnancy, I hadn’t yet explored the emotional and physical depth of the experience. Like many expats, I relied on online groups, followed my OB-GYN’s instructions without question, and carried a quiet wish for a natural birth—without knowing how to prepare for it.
Everything shifted on an August night in 2019 when my water broke. What could have been empowering instead left me feeling small and unsupported. After a hospital birth that felt confusing and disempowering, followed by months of sleep deprivation and postpartum depression, I slowly found my way thanks to community, movement, and education. Joining Fit4Mom, discovering supportive podcasts, and learning from inspiring accounts helped me rebuild my confidence and understand what had been missing: knowledge, connection, and real support.
Two years later, I welcomed my second child in the quiet, loving space of my home, surrounded by my midwife and the safety I wished I had known the first time. That transformative birth changed everything. It inspired me to dive into childbirth education, prenatal and postpartum yoga, and haptonomy — and, ultimately, to dedicate myself to supporting other families so they never have to feel the way I once did.
As my children have grown and our family has built a strong, supportive community here in the DMV, I am stepping fully into my role as a birth doula in 2025. With more space, wisdom, and balance in my life, I’m honored to now walk beside families through pregnancy and birth, offering grounded presence, evidence-based guidance, and deep, heartfelt care.
If you’re a French-speaking family, I may be an especially good fit, supporting francophone parents and helping them navigate the U.S. maternity system with clarity, comfort, and cultural understanding brings me immense joy.
As a self-employed mother, I shape my work around my values: family, connection, empowerment, and community. Our shared love of travel — including an eight-month adventure through South America — reminds me daily of the importance of curiosity and presence, qualities I bring into my work with families.
Thank you for being here. It’s a true honor to support you as you prepare for one of life’s most profound transitions. Together, we’ll create space for knowledge, confidence, and a deep connection to your own power.
